REAL ID Compliant
Beginning May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers 18+ must use a REAL ID-compliant license (marked with a star in the top right) or a valid passport to board domestic flights. Enhanced Driver’s Licenses (EDLs) are accepted without a star. If not compliant, alternatives like valid passports are required.
Key REAL ID & Star Information
In aviation, a STAR (Standard Terminal Arrival Route) is a procedure used by pilots to navigate during arrivals, which differs from the identification "star".
Key REAL ID & Star Information
- The Star: REAL ID-compliant cards usually feature a star symbol in the upper right corner.
- Alternative Identification: A U.S. Passport, Passport Card, DHS Trusted Traveler Card, or U.S. Military ID is also acceptable.
- Non-Compliant ID: After May 7, 2025, standard driver's licenses (without a star or not marked "Enhanced") will not be accepted.
- Grace Period: Starting February 1, 2026, passengers without a compliant ID may pay a $45 fee for TSA ConfirmID verification.
