Why choose HFC?
PLEASE FORWARD TO HS COACHES
HFC is an affordable community college in Wayne County with a varsity wrestling team.
We have $15,000 (plus whatever we fundraise) in Athletic Aid (scholarships) to award student-athletes, at the beginning of 2nd semester, who can do 3 things:
1. Be academically eligible
2. Follow team rules
3. Meet basic expectations
Unfortunately, HFC wrestling currently has 3 voids (174, 184, 197) for the upcoming season. I know it takes time to build a program and this is only our 2nd year of existence, but having 3 voids is unacceptable.
There are simply too many wrestlers in the surrounding area.
I am asking you to encourage recent graduates & soon to be graduates to strongly consider attending HFC and get a 2nd chance to wrestle while earning an associates degree.
I want high school coaches to understand the following:
1. We have an excellent schedule and HFC wrestlers are treated well.
2. Our overnight trips are fun and the young men travel to Illinois, New York, Ohio as well as all around Michigan.
3. Each wrestler who travels with the team overnight gets $28 for food allowance. This is considerably more than other NJCAA programs.
4. Our team sleeps in nice hotels instead of cheap 1-star red roof inns other junior college teams use.
5. HFC recently purchased 3 brand new 12-passenger vans for athletics.
6. HFC wants the athletic department to grow & be successful.
7. In fact, this is the first time in school history where there is a full time athletic director & scholarship opportunity.
8. Last year, HFC had 7 wrestlers qualify for NJCAA nationals. The team flew to Council Bluffs, Iowa while many other junior college teams traveled by bus or van.
The message I’m sending needs to be clear-
“HFC Wrestling provides a positive athletic experience”.
If you have any questions or need more information, don’t hesitate to call.
